LG has announced a new range of laptops called the Widebook which is designed to cater for home entertainment needs. The laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce graphics chip with up to 1GB of DDR2 video memory. This provides the laptop enough power for high definition movies and games. Depending on which model you go for, the screen-size will be 13.3-inch (R380), 14-inch (R480/R460) and 15.6-inch (R580/R560).

Now that the Asus Eee PC 1008HA is made available in pink (currently available in Amazon.com for $417), I have made some analysis on this netbook. Below are the summary of good and bad for this netbook after reading several reviews across the web.

Asus Eee PC 1008HA is one of the thinnest 10-inch netbook around. It has a 10.1-inch LED Backlight WSVGA Screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, an Intel Atom N270/ N280 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 10GB complimentary online Eee Storage, and a battery that last for 6 hours usage. The most outstanding features of this netbook is its slim and stylish design. It's just 1-inch thick and weight only 2.2 pounds. And under such thin and light design, this netbook still maintain a decent performance that's comparable to other bigger-size netbook. While the spec claims that the battery can last for 6 hours, most reviews that have done stress test on the battery are seeing 4 to 5 hours of battery life, which is still consider good.

The biggest drawback of the Eee PC 1008HA is however the non user replaceable battery -- you couldn't change to a backup battery yourself when the original one run flat. This could be a big disadvantage for those who need to travel long distance. And another drawback would be the price which is more expensive than most other competing nebooks.

Here are the summary pros and cons for the Eee PC 1008HA:

The Asus Eee PC 1008HA Seashell is one of the thinnest 10-inch netbook among the Eee PC series. It's just 1-inch thick, and the design is extremely stylish and lightweight. Toshiba finally released it's first netbook, the Mini NB205 to the U.S. market. It might be a little late now, but being late is not always a bad thing. It gives Toshiba the opportunity to watch and takes in all the buzz being generated in the netbook market and glean from all the rants about these devices ways to improve upon its own product. And we are so glad that Toshiba did offer a posh pink color option which gives us another great choice of pink netbook that's not only attractive design, but also has everything we’d recommend in a netbook.

The pink Toshiba NB205 netbook is currently available on Amazon.com for $399. In terms of internal parts, it is similar to most of other netbooks in today's market. Here's the rundown of the NB205's specs and features:

Laptop Magazine, CNet, and PC Mag have done their respective reviews on the Toshiba NB205 netbook, and all of them gives pretty good rating to this machine. Both Laptop Magazine and PC Mag rated it 4.5 out of 5 and given it an 'Editor's Choice' status. CNet on the other hand is a little unsatisfied with bulky battery and the wimpy audio, giving it a rating of 3.5 out of 5, but still recommend it as one of the netbook that's worth considering.

In terms of system performance, the Toshiba NB205 performs pretty well. Based on all three reviews, they had no problems streaming video at full screen or working with several applications simultaneously. Here are the summary of good and bad of Toshiba NB205:

Good:

Unique and stylish design: Available in Posh pink as well as a few other colors, the Toshiba NB205 has a textured lid that's fingerprint-resistant. Combined with an elegant, shiny bronze hinge (with a glowing power button at the center), it nicely matches the silver finish on the bottom deck for an overall professional look.
Comfortable keyboard and large touchpad: The metal, island style, full-size keyboard is sturdy and comfortable. Both Laptop Magazine and CNet comment that it take some time for them to get used to the unique keyboard design, but eventually they found it very easy and comfortable to use. The large touchpad which measures 3.1 x 1.6-inch, and the two dedicated right and left mouse buttons make it easy for users to navigate the desktop.
Excellent battery life: The Toshiba NB205 comes with a standard six-cell 5800 mAh lithium ion battery which last for 8 hours plus on Laptop Magazine's and PC Mag's test, and 6 hours plus on CNet's video playback battery drain test.
USB port charges device when system is off: the USB port on Toshiba NB205 is enabled with Toshiba’s Sleep-and-Charge technology, which provides power to connected devices when the system is off.
Bundle with a good deal of useful software, including HDD Protection and Zoom Utility software, Bluetooth Stack (for easy Bluetooth setup), ConfigFree (for connecting to a network), and PC Health Monitor (for keeping the netbook running smoothly).

Bad:

Bulky battery that sticks out at the back: While the standard six-cell battery provides an excellent battery life, it juts out from the back of the system making it looks less attractive.
Weak speaker: The speakers that are hidden below the front edge of the system, were a bit weak compared with other netbooks. This is one of the major factors that Cnet lowered their rating on this this netbook. This problem can be solved though by plugging in a headset, as suggested by Laptop Magazine.
Large display bezel: The almost one-inch thick bezel that surrounds the display makes the screen feel smaller than it should.

Conclusion:
Apparently, Toshiba has made quite a great deal of competitive analysis before coming up with the NB205 netbook. Besides having a killer design, the NB205 has everything we’d recommend in a netbook: ergonomic keyboard and touchpad, excellent battery life, and most importantly an affordable price that's according to the public's demand. The Posh pink Toshiba NB205 will definitely made it into our list of best pink netbooks!

Asus Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA To Ship in 5 Different Colors Including Pink in Italy

Asus Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA are the 2 latest 10-inch netbook models from Asus. Both models are under the "Seashell" product line, in which the design is said to be inspired by the Seashell which is extremely stylish, slim and lightweight. The Eee PC 1008HA is just 1-inch thick and weight 2.4 pounds but comes with a non-replacable battery, while the Eee PC 1005HA is 1.4-inches thick and 2.8 pounds heavy and is having a replacable battery.

Now the good news is that a few Italian blogs have reported that both of these models will be released in Italy in several colors, including Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, white, Black and Pink! However, there's no words on whether the pink and other color options will be coming to the U.S. yet. As of now, only the black and white color options are available in the U.S.

Both the Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA are very stylishly designed, and having great performance and features. Hopefully Asus will made the pink version available in the U.S. They will be really great choices for those who have been waiting for the pink Eee PC 1000HE which did not make it to the U.S.

The Toshiba NB205, which is one of our much awaited pink netbook is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Only the blue and black version is available for the moment though. There are 2 models of Toshiba NB205: one without Bluetooth feature and available only in black color which cost $349, and another one with bluetooth feature and to be available in pink, blue, white and brown, which cost $399.

While the Toshiba NB 205 has almost the same internal specs with most of other netbooks on the market (10-inch display, Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive), it does have a stylish external design and great battery life which make it stands out from the crowd. Great news.. Asus is partnering with Disney to create the cute Disney Netpal Netbook -- a mini notebook designed specially for kids. And yes, it will be available in floral “Princess Pink” color that will definitely appeal to any little budding princess!

Also known as Asus MK90 and MK90H, the Netpal will have an 8.9-inch LED-backlit screen with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, and runs on an Intel Atom N270 CPU, with 1GB of DDR2 RAM. While the specs are pretty similar to the adult netbook, netpal does come with some kids friendly features such as the spill-proof keyboard, ShockShield protection that will save data in a fall, the Magic desktop kid friendly gadget tray which has a 2D menu visibly showing Disney email, a Disney browser (set to a Jones Brother and Hannah Montana littered homepage no less), and the Disney Magic software that allows parents to restrict kids from getting into the full XP operating system, control usage time and block Web sites.

According to Laptop Magazine, the Netpal looks very much like the Eee PC 1008HA Seashell netbook, but has been given a kiddy makeover complete with pink swirls. Remember the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 netbook that was announced last month? It's the second generation of 10-inch netbook from Lenovo with quite some improvements over the first generation. The pink colored Lenovo S10-2 is currently available for order on Amazon for $329.99, and will comes with 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm hard drive, and 6-cell battery.

According to most reviews done on this netbook, the Lenovo S10-2 is definitely much better than the first generation of IdeaPad S10. Lenovo has tried removing most of the complaints on the S10 model in producing a better new S10-2.

First, the external design of S10-2 looks better than its predecessor. It has a rounder look, a glossy cover with a repeating pattern that looks strikingly similar to Target’s Bullseye, and available in 4 colors including pink, white, gray, and black.

Second, the keyboard and touchpad of the S10-2 has a much improved design in terms of ergonomics. The pitch of the keys are wider, and the multi-touch trackpad has been expanded.

Third, the features of IdeaPad S10-2 has improved. It comes with a standard 6-cell battery (instead of 3-cell in S10), 3 USB ports (instead of 2 in S10), a glossy 10.1-inch display, and a new option for 3G modem. Also, there's a quick start function that enable this machine to be booted up in just 10 seconds, according to this review by DK.

And finally, the greatest part is the price. Despite all the improvements that Lenovo has made on the S10-2 model, the price remain in the comparative range in the market.

Remember the Mini NB200 netbook that Toshiba released in UK? It's now coming to the US with a different model name, NB205, and will be available in pink!

The hardware specs for this netbook is pretty standard with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, a 160GB hard drive, and 1GB of RAM (upgradable to 2GB). But according to Laptop Magazine who have made a first impression post about this netbook, Toshiba NB205 might be the best netbook they have ever reviewed. The chiclet keyboard is the best they among all other netbooks, and also the appearance is best looking among all netbooks they have seen so far.

Toshiba has also included a few extra features into the NB205 netbook, including the sleep-and-charge USB ports (all 3 of them) which allow users to charge their USB devices attached to the netbook even if its turned off, LED-backlit, and the 160GB HDD that is protected from sudden drops by a 3D accelerometer.

There are some pretty great features on the Mini 10 compared to the previous series of the Mini 9 and 12. 10-inch Acer Aspire One Officially Launched - Pink is Not Available

Acer has recently released the 10-inch version of Aspire One netbook, AOD150, in the U.S.

Acer provide a few color options for their new 10-inch Aspire One, but unfortunately pink is not one of them (there's a ruby red version though which might be of interest for pink laptop lovers).

The specs for the Aspire One AOD150 are as follows:

And as usual, Laptop Magazine has got an early review on the new 10-inch machine from Acer. According to them, the Aspire One AOD150 is slim, stylish, and comes with great performance and battery life. If not because of the keyboard and touchpad layout, it's almost comparable to the Samsung NC10 and the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE... and it beats the other two in terms of price ($349.99). Overall, Laptop Magazine gave it a rating of 4 out of 5.

The Acer Aspire One AOD150 appears to be another great netbook that can be listed in our best netbook list. It's unfortunate that it's currently not available in pink, but we believe sooner or later, Acer will release a pink version, just its 8.9-inch predecessor.

If you try to look for pink MacBook directly from the Apple's store, you will be disappointed -- because Apple does not currently offer pink color option for their laptop products, be it MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air. But if you really like your MacBook to be in pink, here are a few ways that you can "create" it on your own.

The best way of creating your own pink Macbook is by sending it to Colorware, a company which provide the service of altering the color of existing products. All Apple laptops, including MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air can be sent to the company for re-coloring. Their proprietary color coating system is scratch resistant, and they provide quite a number of color variety to choose from. The only drawback is that the price is quite expensive. It will cost $450 for MacBook & MacBook Pro; and $500 for MacBook Air for re-coloring. You can also directly order a brand new MacBook through them, which they will then apply your selection color before sending it to you. For more details, check out the company's website.

If Colorware is too expensive, another way to create your own pink MacBook is by using pink laptop case. There are quite a number of pink laptop case available for the the MacBook such as the See-Thru case from Speck, and the Hardshell case from Incase. Not only they are cheaper than Colorware, they provide protection to your MacBook in a pretty pink shade.

And finally, the least expensive way of shading your Macbook in pink is by using pink laptop skin. The advantage of using laptop skin is that there's a wide variety of skin design to choose from. They can even look greater than a pink laptop in plain color.. and you can change a new look to your MacBook from time to time, just by replacing the laptop skin.

So here you have it -- three ways of making your own pink MacBook. Let's hope that Apple will make MacBook to be available in pink some day, so that we don't have to "create" it on our own!

Dell Promise Pink Laptops to Fight Breast Cancer

Now when you purchase a pink laptop from Dell, not only you are getting yourself a pretty, and stylish laptop, you are doing a good deed at the same time.

Dell recently announced a partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer organization, to raise money through the company's new Promise Pink laptops for breast cancer research and community-based programs for breast health education and screening -- For every promise pink laptop or Minis it sells, Dell will donate $5 to the foundation.

Most of Dell's laptop lines are available in the new Promise Pink, including Inspiron Mini 9 & Mini 12, Inspiron 1525, Studio 15 & Studio 17, Studio Hybrid, XPS M1330, XPS M1530 and the Latitude E4200. Every unit of these product lines sold from now until January 31, 2010 will contribute $5 for fighting against breast cancer.

Dell also promise a minimum guaranteed donation of $250,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Apparently pink laptop is a hot selling product in Dell!
